Best Time to Visit Egypt's Western Desert

When to go to Siwa, Bahariya and the White Desert for comfortable days, cool nights and the best stars.

The Western Desert is a winter destination. From October to April days are warm and bright and the nights are cool — perfect for camping.

Month by month

October–November: warm days (25–30 °C), mild nights. Ideal for first-time campers.
December–February: pleasant days (18–22 °C) but cold nights, sometimes close to 3 °C. The clearest skies of the year.
March–April: warming up again, with spring winds on some days.
May–September: very hot in the day (often above 40 °C). Only early-morning and night activities are comfortable.

Plan around the moon

If stargazing is your dream, choose dates within a few days of the new moon. A full moon lights up the White Desert beautifully, but hides most of the Milky Way.
