How Desert Safaris Work: Safety, Permits & Comfort

Who drives, where you sleep, what permits are needed and how we keep every desert journey safe.

Safety is the first thing we plan, long before the adventure.

Experienced local drivers

Every safari is led by Bedouin drivers who were born in the oases and know the desert routes. Our vehicles are serviced before every trip and carry spare tyres, tools, water and a first-aid kit.

Permits

Day trips and the White Desert National Park need only park tickets, which we buy for you. Deep desert routes such as the Great Sand Sea require a security permit — we arrange it with a copy of your passport.

Communication

Our teams carry mobile phones and, on remote routes, satellite communication. We share your itinerary with our office in Cairo every day.

Comfort at camp

Camps include tents, mattresses, warm bedding, a dining area and a private toilet tent. Food is fresh and cooked at camp; vegetarian and special diets are welcome — just tell us when booking.
